Shot Breakdown
GenoGrow Sign
The demo opens with a helicopter shot from “Leverage”. I created the sign on the side of the building in this shot and helped with background elements.
Rappelling
These two shots show a woman rappelling down a skyscraper. I modeled, rigged, textured/UV, lit, and animated the woman using reference photos of the actress.
Hanging
The next shot in this sequence is a 180° camera flip. I created and animated the background and building she is on as well as the objects in the street below.
Elevator Jump
The director wanted a shot of the actress rappelling down an elevator shaft past camera. The entire shot is 3D, camera-projected textures for the elevator shaft and a CG character that I created for mid-range and wide shots.
Truck Explodes
In this shot you will see an SUV exploding in a parking lot. I modeled and animated the bouncing tire of fire.
Horse Dive
This is a two-part shot of horses diving off a cliff. I modeled, rigged, textured/UV, lit, and animated the horses and riders. Each horse and rider had UV's and an IK/FK rig. The splash is RealFlow.
Sid the Science Kid
Next you will see clips from “Sid the Science Kid” on PBS. As lead layout artist on this series I worked on the mo-cap stage. I placed all the items in the CG sets and referenced all the assets. I made sure everything ran smoothly and also assisted with modeling many of the props and sets.
New York City
There is a shot of a motorcycle pulling away with two riders. I created all the background set extensions, basically turning Mexico City into New York City.
Titan Maximum
This is a series of shots from the Cartoon Network show Titan Maximum. I was the lead 3D artist on this show and was responsible for creating all the CG assets. I helped recruit and train other artists and setup the 3D pipeline/network. I oversaw the texturing and animation and did all the rigging.
Across the Universe
I worked on match-moving a 3D character that was used as an emitter for Maya fluid. Salma Hayek was shot on green screen and composited over the model and fluid sim. It was used in the film for the "Happiness is a Warm Gun" song.
Excalibur
This is a scene of Noah Wiley play fighting with Excalibur. I modeled the sword and helped create the texture maps. The model was reused in all three "Librarian" movies.
Rats
Next up is a quick shot from Librarian II where a whole bunch of rats come spilling out of a tomb. I modeled, rigged, textured/UV, lit, and animated the rats. They were then added into a RealFlow sim for the swarm effect.
Bats
I did pretty much the same thing in this shot with bats, except they were instanced onto particle systems for the swarm. I used the same technique for flocks of birds.
Spaceship
Here are a couple shots of a spaceship and an interior helmet display. I animated the spaceship and cameras in Maya and created the HUD in AfterFX.
Triangle
Next in line is a shot from “Triangle”, for Sci-Fi Channel. I animated the camera, boats, and airplanes in the scene. I re-modeled everything for use in Maya. (FBX triangles - OBJ quads) conversion then re-topologized.
Laughing Ghost
This is a clip from “Librarian 3” where actor Bruce Davison is killed. I animated the laughing ghost that pops up behind him.
Cobra Strike
Ok, this is a quick shot of a cobra striking at the camera. This was a freelance job for a client to be used in car shows for a Shelby Cobra. I modeled, rigged, textured/UV, lit, and animated the snake. Snakes are hard to rig!
Boeing 777
All nine shots are from “Leverage” on TNT. I modeled and rigged the Boeing 777 and animated the cameras and jet. I setup all the scenes and backgrounds and helped with texturing and compositing many of the shots.
Flyboys
These are two shots from the motion picture “Flyboys”. I modeled the Nieuport 17 airplane for holdouts and animated the particle effects and missile trails and assisted with explosions and ricochets.
Underground Temple
Here is a shot of an underground temple. I modeled everything and animated the camera move. This shot blended a CG set with a live-action set. The next four scenes all come from Librarian 2. The lava was created using RealFlow. I also modeled, rigged, and animated the character on fire.
Lost Planet
There are two shots from the “Lost Planet” commercial for Xbox360. I assisted during the final push with some additional particle effects, namely the exhaust and blast from the rocket launcher.
Airliner
This is a shot of an airliner from way above. I modeled, rigged, textured/UV, lit, and animated the airliner. I also animated the camera move in both shots.
Nessy
Last up on the reel is a shot from Librarian 3. I was called in to add some more items to the library. I modeled and textured Amelia Earhart's airplane, the Stargate, and the Easter Island heads. I also modeled, rigged, textured/UV, lit, and animated the Loch Ness monster swimming around. The water was done using RealFlow.
